Worked Example: How to Add a Compensation Condition that applies to the Time of Day

 

A pet sitting company pays its dog walkers $7.50 for a 20 minute dog walk during the day but $8.50 for a dog walk after 9pm and before 8am.
 

In this example it's useful to avoid creating a new service for a walk between these hours. This will clutter up your service list and make the system less easy to use. Instead we set up a compensation condition and apply it to the standard 20 minute dog walking service so that a higher rate is automatically calculated when the service is scheduled between these hours.

ON DESKTOP:

Navigate to Admin > Services > Service Items > Charge Conditions

STEP 1
  • Click the service item you wish to edit.

  • Click "Compensation Conditions" from the menu.

  • Then click "Add a New Condition".

  • Select "the time is between" in the left hand drop down menu

  • Select "9" in the hours drop down, then click "PM" and select "8" in the other hours option and "AM"

  • Type "8.50 in the panel labelled "Then compensation is"

  • Click "Add".

STEP 4

This has created a rule which you can now see on the Compensation Conditions list for this service item. This rule will automatically calculate compensation due of $8.50 for any 20 minute dog walk that you schedule after 9pm and before 8am.

This example where the compensation conditions are applied to the time of day apply to the following "If" statements:

 

  • If the time is between - you simply select the appropriate amount of hours and minutes from the drop down menus. Remember to check the AM and PM options are correct.

ON MOBILE:

STEP 1​​​​

  • Tap the Navigator, and select Admin > Services > Service Items > Charge Conditions

STEP 2

  • Tap the service you wish to edit.

STEP 3

  • Tap the "Compensation Conditions" menu.

STEP 4

  • Tap "Add A New Condition" menu.

STEP 5

  • Select "the time is between" in the left hand drop down menu

  • Select "9" in the hours drop down, then click "PM" and select "8" in the other hours option and "AM"

  • Type "16.00" in the panel labelled "Then charge"

  • Tap "Add".

STEP 6

This has created a rule which you can now see on the Charge Conditions list for this service item. This rule will automatically charge $16.00 for any 20 minute dog walk that you schedule after 9pm and before 8am.
